Breakout West is the music festival surrounding the Western Canadian Music Awards, and for 2010 Western Canada Music Week is being held in Kelowna. Streaming Café has been named one of the host venues, and we’ll be featuring three showcase evenings during the week of October 21^st to 24^th. Andrew Sisk of Share...FREE album download!

I just got this update from Forward Music Group for a free album download from front man Andrew Sisk of Share. I just downloaded this cool album...check it out!

If you like Andrew Sisk's songwriting and free music than Forward Music Group has just the thing for you; a new album by his project Coco et Co. 

After a long Montreal winter, Coco et Co spent the spring months poaching old keyboards and yard sale records to serve as inspiration for their debut recording, St. Denis.  A new, minimalist duet project for Andrew Sisk (Share, Sleepless Nights) and his musical partner Miranda Durka; the duo wrote and recorded the album in their empty apartment on the street of the album's namesake.  Informed by the approach of Serge Gainsbourg, the spirit of Sade, and the mood of Low they limited their thoughtful songs to arrangements for drum machine, keys, guitar, and two voices.

Kelowna hosts BreakOut West Festival!

Streaming Cafe played host for the Break Out West Festival press conference earlier this month. Performers for the Western Canada Music Week were announced along with a few details about the Western Canadian Music Awards.  The festival runs over three nights in nine of Kelowna’s finest music venues and some of the confirmed artists include Leela Gilday, Library Voices, Alpha Yaya Diallo, Sandro Dominelli, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, The Zolas, The Lytics, Gordie Tentrees. Treelines "Song of the Summer" - CBC 3

Kelowna indie rock band Treelines have performed at the Streaming Cafe a couple times over the last year and a half and are now nominated for the "Song of the Summer" contest by CBC 3. So support indie music and vote for them at http://radio3.cbc.ca/#/polls/?pollId=74.

Peak Performance Project 2010!

It's always cool to see past Streaming Cafe performers go on to new amazing opportunities. Christina Maria, Greg Sczebel, Adaline and Aidan Knight (performing at the cafe in the band Maurice)  who have all graced our cyber stage are all in the Top 20 for The PEAK Performance Project 2010 . Over 470 singer/songwriters and bands from all over BC applied for the contest that helps develop and grow artists with a chance to take the Peak's top prize of $100,500.
